Tips for wide angle photography

Wide angle photography is tricky. Beginners will definitely be attracted to it. But if you are not careful and meticulous you might not get the desired results .Recently I got a request from a blogger to help her with the problems she faced while using a wide angle lense. She took a photo of her friends with a wide angle lense that caused the people standing near the edges of frame looking heavier than they are.

Follow the tips in the infographics below, you will definitely get better results with wide angle lense.

  1. Short focal length lenses just make people look distorted no matter what you do. If you’re too close, their nose looks twice as big. Off center there is a lot of distortion and the people look fat. I think, in general, you should use 50mm and above for shooting photos of people and just step back a bit. A 50 – 85mm lens also helps the background look more in line with human visual perception.
